Sorry about that

For everyone using RSS, sorry about a whole bunch of old messages showing up as new. I changed the config so that the whole message would show up in the RSS feed, not just the first 40 words. Only yesterday’s is new.

Friday Leftovers

Had Thanksgiving dinner at Ralph and Gene’s house. They’re both architects and have a huge house on top of Nicholes Canyon. When I first met them 20 years ago it was just a very steep hillside. Now they’re finally talking about selling it, perhaps a year too late, as [...]

Weekend Movie

Saw a movie this weekend, Finding Neverland. It was very enjoyable. Was planning to see it at 7 with Nick, but he was running late so we decided on 8:30. Then 10. He didn’t get to my house until 9:50, so I knew we wouldn’t make it. Saw the 10:50 [...]

Interviews

I’ve come to the conclusion that in an interview if they start asking me Computer Science theory questions, that I should just politely end the interview and go home, because I’m not going to be able to answer the questions to their satisfaction.

So its been a week since the election. Like most of the people I know, I was crushed by the reelection of George W Bush. Perhaps living on the margins of the country (along with 48% of the population of the USA) made us too isolated. After everything that has happened in [...]

Predictions

The LA Times interactive Electoral Vote Tracker has been a great gizmo to test out various scenarios. From that, it seems very unlikely that Kerry will get less than 287 electoral votes. He could get as much as 365.
My guess is 311 for Kerry.

Elsewhere on the web

From Slate’s Enter The Fray
…The problem is not (simply) this Party’s President but the Party itself. By giving into its most archly conservative elements and combining that with an extremely activist agenda, Republicans have transformed themselves from a conservative Party that promised to get government off our backs into a neoconservative one that believes it [...]
