X marks where I lived my first six months in Los Angeles, from August 1981 to February, 1982. USC is the polygon south of Jeffereson and east of Vermont. (Here is another map of the USC area.) I attended USC from August, 1981 through June 1994. I then was a volunteer driver during the 1984 Summer Oympics. After that I went to work for Union Oil in downtown Los Angeles, waiting for my professor to approve my Master's thesis. After one more rewrite, I graduated from USC in the spring of 1985 (missing the winter deadline by just a few weeks.)
Much of the Summer Olympics took place at and around USC. The Olympic Village was on campus, as well as the swim stadium for the swimming and diving events. South of USC is Exposition Park. Here, the opening and closing ceremonies were held at the Coliseum, as well as the track and field events. Also in Exposition Park is the Sports Arena, where the boxing events were held.
OK, I still need to scan photos from the Olympic games. (And I have some great ones.)
